Architectural Lighting with Simple Geometry and Pure Lines

Flap, designed by Rubén Saldaña Acle of Arkoslight, is a unique architectural lighting piece that stands out for its simple geometry and pure lines. It is a versatile LED wall washer appliance that can be used in both rational and random settings, making it suitable for group compositions.

Formally designed as a sectioned disk, Flap boasts a flat and thin profile. Despite its compact size, it delivers perfectly homogeneous light dispersion, providing indirect and comfortable lighting. Its minimalist design allows it to blend seamlessly into any space, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication.

Constructed using aluminum and PMMA, Flap is not only aesthetically pleasing but also technologically advanced. With a power rating of 20W and a color temperature of 3000K, it produces a luminous flux of 2200Lm with an efficiency of 73%. The fixture is available in white and black textured finishes, and it offers dimmable options using 1-10V control. Alternative color temperatures are also available to suit different lighting needs.

Flap was designed in Valencia, Spain in 2015. The project involved extensive research into the market and iconic designs in minimalistic-style wallwashers. The main challenge was to reduce the product to its minimum expression while preserving its luminous flux and ensuring the best spread of light on the wall. The result is a beautifully designed lighting fixture that combines functionality and aesthetics.

Flap has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures category in 2016. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
